~ Cooking Decorating ~ Mason & Marissa
I have always wanted to have a kids Halloween party, since Marissa was born! Now that she's 3 and has friends and family to join in the fun we decided to have a Halloween Cookie Party! The kids had a blast - first we made Mummy Pumpkins (gauze & google eyes), played Halloween Bingo, next we got our hands dirty (and all surroundings) w/sugar cookie dough. Each Ghoul & Goblin rolled out their dough and cut shapes w/cookie cutters. I can't say that I'm the best cookie baker - there is some wild science to that, even though the bake time suggests 15 minutes, these cookies were cooking within 8 - 10 minutes! I like crispy cookies, but some were way to crispy! My sad excuse is that some cookies were very thin and others slightly thick, so it was difficult to determine whether the cookies were a soft batch or not. Once cooled the kids decorated their cookies w/frosting and sprinkles - Delicious! We ended the day making Ghost magnets.
Martha Stewart was definitely my inspiration... giving each kid a handmade broom (paper bags) filled w/treats, a recipe for Slime, and showcased Frankensteins brains as a center piece :) *
We hope to make this an annual event - MOOWAAHAAHAA!!
*I later found out that you can pre-purchase Martha Stewart craft ideas - but not me, each was personally made by Witch Torina - - Happy Haunting!

Sounds very fun and creative! Sad that we missed it. I have the preschool lesson next week and we are doing a Halloween theme so I'm going to steal some of your ideas if you dont mind. ;)
