Last Monday morning the girls and I headed out to the Lyndsay Wildlife Museum in Walnut Creek. The museum is typically closed on Mondays, however they began a program called mini mondays which offer many fun teacher-led activities for children ages 2-5, which include stories, arts & crafts, activities and animal encounters.

Butterfly entrance to Museum.

Marissa & Sierra tried to hide underneath the eagle's wings.

a stuffed deer..

a stuffed possum which Sierra kept her eye on - instead of smiling for the camera.

a game of hopscotch..

Marissa letting a stick bug crawl up her arm.

Sierra opted to play w/the stuffed mouse and rat - eek!

Marissa & Sierra horrified with their bear encounter - not!

Marissa & Sierra at the craft table making their very own ladybugs, which we learned Doves enjoy eating, poor little ladybugs.

Girls coloring their own grasshopper masks.

Marissa & Sierra also made Bumble Bees. Marissa mentioned to the gal sitting at the table preparing the crafts that she was recently stung by a bee (actually a wasp).

The girls and I had a blast. We missed quite a bit of exhibits, so we will definetly be back to the museum. The cost for all 3 (on mini mondays) was $15.00. The program lasted 2 hours. However, during my visit I noticed that during regular business hours the entrance is 1/2 off if you have an Oakland Zoo membership. Or if you purchase the Lyndsay membership your entrace to the Oakland Zoo is 1/2 off.
