A week before Christmas I invited the McMullen family (minus David) over so the kids could hang out for a few hours and decorate Gingerbread Houses! Yes, Marissa does have a black eye in this photo - she had fallen a few days prior while horsing around with Brian.
The houses were a bit of a struggle to begin but soon the kids were mastering a technique. I've decided I should have extra frosting on hand, because the kits came with a very minimal amount of frosting and it wasn't that sturdy! Either way, the kids had a blast, I think it was actually more fun to see how long each house would stay together!
Caden, Ethan and Brittany's fabulous house!
Marissa, Sierra, Sarah and Torina's fabulous house!
The kids also had fun painting their own ornaments (sun catchers).
and afterwards they just had a blast running around and playing games with each other!
The Saturday just before Christmas my parents held their annual family Christmas party! I was too busy socializing with friends and family the only pictures were of the kids (cousins). I wish Elilah and I had taken a photo together - we had unknowingly dressed alike, 50's style, long pencil style skirts with a sweater and belt around waist - TOO FUNNY!!!
Not a bad group photo of the kids after only 2 or 3 attempts!
The Monday just before Christmas, the Leiser family invited our family as well as the Loercher and Guaragna families over for their annual Christmas/Santa get-together.
Sierra and Ayla were both pretty scared of Santa...Here is Sierra safely hiding behind Brian.
With a little persuading (and the help of candy canes) Sierra sat on Santa's lap to chat and receive her bag of goodies!!
Marissa took a bit longer to convince that Santa isn't scary. She stuck to me like glue!!!
Here is a group shot of all the kids!
Madison and Tyler decorated cupcakes with the first initial of each guest's name - so cute! Kyle and Katherine made the most delicious alcohol drink - The Candy Cane Swirl!
Afterwards the kids enjoyed dancing around - they had so much fun together!! We were all up until 1am!!!! GOOD TIMES!!!

I've decided to end this post with our Wednesday (day before Christmas) morning surprise!
Tuesday morning Marissa and Sierra brought over their Santa goody bags from the Leiser's party. Inside the bags were chocolate Santa's. Most of you know that Sierra will leave no trace of chocolate once open. On the other hand Marissa takes a lick or two and either gives the rest to Sierra or tosses it out. Marissa actually had more fun saving the Santa wrapper than indulging in the chocolate.
Ok, so fast forward to Wednesday morning (and I'll include one important note - Brian never checks what is in the bed, knowing that the kids constantly leave toys, stuff animals and the remote control has from time to time managed to wake me in the middle of the night!)
Sierra woke up in the morning and I went to her room to dress her and remove her night-time diaper...Marissa soon woke and headed to my room where Brian was still snoozing. All of sudden I hear Brian in hysterics - couldn't quite make clear if he was angry, sad, but definitely bothered by something. I quickly return with Sierra and Brian asked "Did Sierra or Marissa sleep in our bed last night?" I replied, "No, neither, why?" Brian replied "Well I just found POOP under the blankets!!" I said "WHAT!!!, Where?" Brian pulled down the blankets and sure enough two shinny round balls of what resembled dookie was staring me right in the eye. I quickly remembered the kids eating their chocolate Santa's so I leaned in and took a sniff - thankfully it was milk chocolate - I even found a Santa wrapper nearby.
Brian and I slept with the chocolate and with our body heat melted it leaving a stain on the sheets! OMG - I'm laughing hysterically as I write, almost nervous about posting it - it truly was NOT SHIT, it was chocolate, and NO, I did not taste it! AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHA!

The poop story is hillarious! Only a mom would be brave enough to smell it! ;)
