4th of July at Donner, part 2 of 3 (finally...only 3 months later)

we began our festivities at downtown Truckee to watch their annual local parade. Here are Marissa and Sierra posing while we wait for the parade to reach it's the end of the parade. So we have mixed feelings about the parade..we've sat at the front of the parade the past 3 years and have missed many floats/attractions, but arrive at the beach at a reasonable time. This time we sat near the end of the parade to view the entire parade, however, so lost in the hour not to mention the traffic and beer run to the store, we didn't arrive to the beach until just as the egg toss and other activities were beginning...next year our vote, NO PARADE. There's enough characters at the beach to visualize our own patriotic parade. HA!

Here Sierra and Marissa prepare for the EGG TOSS! Sierra very excited that she caught the first egg tossed to her, but sadly only made it one other round before dropping the egg - Nice try! Next-up the TUG-O-WAR... Sierra and Marissa ready and posing as if they already won! Marissa and Brian take a try at the THREE LEGGED RACE, as did Brian and Verne...to funny. Melanie and I also attempted the Three legged race, but since we are the ones photographing every moment we were unable to capture ourselves in action. Marissa and Sierra both try the sack race, per their age group! FUN TIMES!!! Next-up for Sierra HULA HOOP contest, not a winner, but too cute not to win a prize. The husbands as always, saved a great spot on the beach earlier that morning, great for playing in/near the water & perfect for watching the fireworks later that evening...
