WINNER!

If you recall my June 30th post, Dream Big. READ! the Brentwood Library's annual summer reading program in which prizes are awarded for reading, and also entered in a contest to win a Grand prize: Giants tickets and 2nd prize: Gumball Machine - well who'd have guess that out of hundreds of children Marissa would win the Grand Prize!

On July 26th, we received a phone call from the Library and hurried to pick-up her prize - 4 SF tickets against the Rockies - as well as a celebration to honor Matt Cain (who on June 13th, 2012 threw the 22nd perfect game in MLB history).

On August 10th we arrived early at the ball park to receive the Matt Cain souvenir pin - Additionally, Mayor Ed Lee in recognition of the perfect game, presented Cain with the key to  the city and made a proclamation that June 13th every year will be known as "Matt Cain Day".
The souvenir pin was given to the first 20,000 fans - little did we know that the park would not open until an hour prior to the game - so we stood waiting (5th in line) for over an hour! The kids didn't mind (thankfully) - too much excitement about being in San Francisco and going to the game!

We had plenty of time to walk around and enjoy the activities at the Coca-Cola fan park. Here the girls played baseball hitting a whiffle ball which is thrown by a park employee, at the mini Giants park which is a 50 x 50 ft. replica of the at&t park.

Yea - so we had nosebleed seats - but that didn't take away from a great evening!!!
