Our 1st Family Snow Trip!!!

We've been itching to go on a ski trip since Marissa was a baby, but waited until we thought the kids were old enough to actually enjoy the snow for more than 10 minutes!

Of course I had no ski gear for the kids and since every store, (except the obvious REI, Sports Authority and Sport Chalet - which are way over priced!) had already clearance their entire winter collection getting ready for spring and summer - really people 'swim suits' during winter!?

Anyway, Melanie thankfully let me borrow her kids snow gear :), we had hopes to go on a snow trip just after New Years, but I was sick and/or the kids were sick. Finally, on January 24th all was well, and we headed on a 2 1/2 drive up to Strawberry. A perfect location to make snow angels, throw snow balls and sled! The girls are still so young and get pooped so fast, although they lasted 2 hours in the snow until Marissa said, "I'm getting hungry and tired"! No more than a mile or 2out of the snow park Marissa was sound asleep! When we got home Sierra kept asking for us to get in our Truck and drive back to the snow. So we promised the girls we would plan a trip and spend the night, so we can rest-up and be able to continue to play in the snow as often as we like. ~ Marissa's snow angel ~

We are planning a trip up again this weekend, possibly having the Roberts family join us, so they'll need their snow clothes back.

So with much effort, found Sierra a pair of snow boot for $5.00, Snow Jackets for both girls for $9.00 each (bought them one size bigger), snow mittens for both girls for $.99 each all at The Children's Place clearance! $10.00 Snow boots at disneystore.com for Marissa, size small snow bib at Target for $17.00 which I realized could just roll up the legs, and Marissa can wear this snow bib until she is 8 years old), and a $5.00 snow bib for Sierra at a children's consignment store! I totally scored even if it took me over a week, a tank of gas and a sore ear calling a ton of stores! Thank goodness I'm a stay at home mom - how else would I have this much time on my hands! It sure beat buying a pair of children snow mittens at Sports Chalet for $16.99 - which they'd grow out of in a year! Ps..I found out that all stores clearance their snow clothes in January - so I'll be sure to remember this next year!

It is SO HARD getting snow gear here! Great catches on sales, I can't immagine how much work and time it took!
