Kindergarten Assessment - Four Stars!

Today was Marissa's kindergarten assessment day. We were both pretty excited about it - even though as I was parking in the school lot I think I had more butterflies in my stomach than she had. I'm gonna miss my baby soooo much!!!

We registered all the necessary paper work and Marissa was welcomed by Mrs. James. As Sierra and I sat across the room from Marissa, I secretly took a few pics of Marissa during her assessment with Mrs. James. Mrs. James taking a picture of Marissa for her school records. Afterwards, Mrs. James and Marissa sat with me and discussed what she and Marissa had completed. Of course I was nervous too hear how well [or not how well] Marissa did. Mrs. James gleamed about Marissa (YEA!!) and was very impressed with her abilities - Marissa's combined scores equaled 9 of 10! Marissa missed one letter during the vowel recognition and, Marissa's nerves got the best of her and only counted to 29! Of course as soon as we left she admitted how nervous she was and proceeded to count to 100 to me on the drive home!!!

I told Marissa not too worry - that Mrs. James only expects children to count to 10 on their assessment day - and that she should be as proud of herself as I am!

Of course the blogger/scrapbooker I am, asked one of the administration gals for a copy of the assessment and she kindly said she'd ask for a copy, and would hand it to me on Orientation day, but that no one has asked that before. HA! Now, Marissa and I look forward to May 13th for Kindergarten Orientation, and School begins July 26th!!! It's exciting and scary at the same time to see them get older. Great job on the test scores, Marissa, that is awesome!
Will it be full day or half day kindergarten?
