Daisy Girl Scout

Today, Marissa officially became a Daisy Girl Scout! She and her fellow Daisy's: Chloe, Molly, Madison, and Caitlyn, will begin learning new skills, go on field trips and participate in Coventry Service Unit activities. In the Daisy Girl Scouts program they will earn "petals", through various troop and service unit activities. As well as learn the Girl Scout Promise and the Girl Scout Law. They will then learn the basics of what being a Girl Scout is all about. Mary, the Daisy Girl Scout Leader, hosted the Welcoming and Investiture Ceremony at her home. First the girls sat in a "Make a Friendship" circle to introduce themselves, and sing "Make New Friends". Lyrics: Make new friends, but keep the old. One is silver, the other is gold.

The girls were then asked to perform the "Girl Scout sign": Holding their middle three fingers up by putting the pinky and thumb together, while sighting the "Girl Scout Promise": On my honor, I will try: To serve God and my country To help people at all times, And to live by the Girl Scout Law.

Afterwards, the girls were given a Girl Scout Promise craft to make, A Daisy Girl Scouts must be in Kindergarten or the First grade, however, Mary was so sweet and allowed Sierra to participate in a few of the activities. Mary then awarded each girl their official Daisy Girl Scout Pin, which was pinned over the girl's heart, telling her she is now a Girl Scout, along with a handshake and welcoming them to [Daisy] Girl Scouting. This pin, worn only by Daisy Girl Scouts, shows that a girl is a member of Girl Scouts at the Daisy Girl Scout age-level. It is worn on the Daisy Insignia Tab on the left side of the uniform, centered above the heart. Trefoil shape with daisy design. Goldtone The World Trefoil Pin Shows that you are part of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS). All Girl Scouts age-levels (Daisy, Brownie, Junior, Girls 11-17, and Adult Girl Scouts) wear this pin on the left side of the uniform directly above the Membership Pin on the Insignia Tab. On it are three leaves representing the Girl Scout Promise, with a flame that stands for loving all the people in the world. The compass needle is to guide you, and the two stars are the Girl Scout Promise and Law. The outer circle represents the World Association, and the golden yellow trefoil on a bright blue background stands for the sun shining over the children of the world.

Of course I forgot to press play on the video until it was almost over :( Afterwards, Mary celebrated the day with a Daisy cupcake cake for all the girls to enjoy!! Here's to a wonderful Daisy Girl Scout year!
