Star of the Week!

I can't believe I've waited so long to post about my little Miss Marissa being Star of the Week!! Each child in Marissa's class will get the opportunity to be the class star. That child is announced at the end of each Friday, given a note describing activities for them to do during their special week, and given a stuffed Clifford the Big Red Dog to borrow for the weekend. Marissa's name was announced on Friday, September 3rd! Here she is playing house with Clifford! The following afternoon we all enjoyed lunch at In-N-Out Burger, after purchasing Marissa a new [loft] bed which includes a desk beneath! The bed arrived a week later, but here is a photo of Sierra sleeping on Marissa's toddler mattress for a slumber party celebration of Marissa's first night sleeping in her loft bed. Sierra wanted to sleep beneath Marissa's bed every night, but I had a horrible feeling that night, that the bed might collapse on her and snuck her back into her room in the middle of the night. Thus, never suggesting a duo bed time story. The morning after purchasing the bed, we painted and redecorated Marissa's room. Marissa had a vision - to only paint the lower portion of the walls below the chair rail, purple (the color of Sierra's bedroom walls), leaving the upper portion light blue. Geez, 5 years old and she thinks she's some sort of decorista - HA!. Each day of the 'Star' week, Marissa had a special [classroom] time devoted for celebration. Monday: Present their decorated "All About Me" t-shirt poster, which is displayed on the classroom star wall. Tuesday: Guessing-Jar Lesson, Marissa brought 22 Seashells, and also on Thursday brought 27 squishy animal themed pencil toppers. On Wednesday, Marissa received her Star of the Week Award [a red star student bracelet] and Sticker.

On Thursday, Marissa was to bring a favorite story from home to share with the class (read by her teacher, Mrs. Deans), she choose Barbie Fairytopia Magic of the Rainbow.

Friday is Child's Choice Day, bringing either a "special toy or treat" from home to share with their class or bring the class a treat to eat. Marissa asked me to make Princess and the Frog Cupcakes. Marissa also handed out stickers to all her classmates.
