As Sierra Marissa and I were walking out the door, Marissa said "wait, you're going to wear those shoes?!, heels?, really?!!"
ME, "well, they're not actually heels, not super high or a heel with a point (stilettos)".
MARISSA "yes, they are heels, why are you wearing heels?"
ME "Do you not want me to wear these shoes? I kinda want to wear something other than a flip flop. Do I look goofy or silly?"
MARISSA "yes, kinda"
ME "is it ok if I just wear them today?"
MARISSA (shrugging her shoulder) "yea, I guess"
ME "Is it because I'm wearing them in the morning, or is it ok if I wear shoes like this when I pick you up from school?"
MARISSA "no, I don't want you to wear them when you pick me up, I want you to wear flip flops."
ME "ok, well how about I take off my bangle bracelets so I don't look too dressed-up"
MARISSA "yea, I think that's good"!
I sure did have a good laugh with Marissa this morning walking to school, as we giggled about my outfit. I didn't realize Marissa would have such input on my shoes, I fear the day when my outfit is unacceptable - LOL!
I read a quote on fashion by Sophia Lauren which said "A woman's dress should be like a barbwire fence: serving its purpose without obstructing the view". Wonder what she would say about what shoes to wear when taking your child to school?
