A little over 9 weeks ago the girls began gymnastics class at the Black Diamond Kids Center in Brentwood. Marissa was enrolled in 'Hoppers' gymnastics class designed for 3-4 years old. If you remember a previous post, I wasn't really pleased with the prior gymnastics instructor, Miss Danielle, but thankfully she was going back to college.
Since the Mommy & Me class was at the same time as Marissa's I decided to enroll Sierra and I enrolled in their 'Bouncers' class, designed for children walking to 2 years old (which I later found out even after I gave her age - but since she hadn't been in a gymnastics class before I thought it was probably best that she start slow). I had second thoughts at times because I could tell Sierra became bored with some routines, but Sierra also had a buddy to hang with, Kira, Melanie and of course me.
Although I noticed a lack of teacher involvement, more social involvement with mothers, which during the last 2 classes Sierra would burst out "Where teacher, What teacher doing?" - HA! The class boosted her confidence in some levels, so I plan to enroll Sierra in the Mommy & Me 'Jumpers' class designed for 2-3 years old in the fall.
Marissa really enjoyed her class with Miss Jessica who was super involved and devoted to her students. Marissa is constantly asking for my help so she can either do a hand stand or cartwheel. She scares me when she shows-off to Brian and does this fake-out cartwheel stance into a forward jump onto floor roll (somersault).
Marissa made such an improvement, from her last money sucking adventure with Miss. Danielle - hum, maybe because as Marissa would also say "Miss Jessica didn't have baby stuff, like my other teacher!".
Marissa's friend Mason was also enrolled in the class, which made it that much more exciting for her to have a buddy to goof off with, when they were allowed :)
I was SUPER proud of Marissa when Miss Jessica announced she had graduated from 'Hoppers'!! I plan to enroll her in their 'Leapers' class in the fall.
After class I awarded Marissa with her choice of prize. Here she is posed next to her Kids Progressive Level 1 Chart and her prize, the Wonder Pets 3 books in One - coloring book, wipe on/off book & painting book!
